The Hacker's Diet has been around for a while (since 1991), created by John Walker, one of the founders of Autodesk. There's no major gimmick, just eat less than you burn. What it does offer, though, is a handy way of keeping track of your true weight using a weighted moving average, that helps dampen the oscillations of your daily water input & output. The author made Excel charts at first, but now he offers a version for the Palm. Happily, it works on even my ancient, wussy little Palm Pilot Personal edition (512K memory). I've been using it for about a month, and lost about ten pounds so far. Your mileage will almost undoubtedly vary.

Use #1002 for your palm pilot. Sure, there are the obvious uses - calendaring, contact lists, cribbage, email, reading rebeccablood's blog... but what else can you do with a palm pilot? How about building a robot using brainstem technology? Guaranteed to recognize, analize, and vaporize your cubemate's wussy little Lego Mindstorm.

Palm Buddy lets you view and install files on your Palm using a slick Finder-like window. It also does file conversion, but doesn't sync. Nice. Here's a screen shot.

Dumb name, clever site. Yodlee wants to provide an online service that consolidates all of the email, ecommerce, banking, and travel accounts that you probably have scattered across a half-dozen, disparate sites and then link them right into your Palm. And they support sites out the wazoo already. Now you have only one login and password to forget.

Today is Friday, the day I get paid, which also happens to be impulse buying day! A few minutes ago, I bought a couple cool things for my palm pilot. Concept Kitchen has a rubber bumper-type case for the palm, which should be arriving next week. The other impulse buy was SimCity for the Palm. Thanks to Atelier's cool downloadable distribution, I'm playing SimCity right now.
