America’s Forgotten Pin-Up Girl:
"Meet Hilda, the creation of illustrator Duane Bryers and pin-up art’s best kept secret. Voluptuous in all the right places, a little clumsy but not at all shy about her figure, Hilda was one of the only atypical plus-sized pin-up queens to grace the pages of American calendars from the 1950s up until the early 1980s, and achieved moderate notoriety in the 1960s." The female artists who shaped the American Dream Girl
(mildly NSFW) "...according to pin-up art expert Louis K. Meisel, three of the most talented pin-up painters from the Golden Age, roughly the 1920s to the early 1960s, were women. “Pearl Frush, Joyce Ballantyne, and Zoë Mozert were terrific, as good as any of the men—in fact, better than many of them,” Meisel says." A fascinating look at three very interesting women and their work in an area of art that is overwhelmingly known for its male artists. [more inside]

Silly old Grace Jones is, what, now -- 62?
You remember her. Yeah, but how about recalling this -- her 'Walking in the Rain
'? Remember that?
Just a copy, a bad one. Of a bad song
, by eighties New Wave droners Flash and the Pan
Yecch. Songwriter? Diminutive George Young, there with the Chinese eyes and cigar. Born in Scotland, he was taken with music and especially the British invasion when he was a teen.
Earlier, he was a guitarist for the mid-sixties group The Easybeats, who recorded an absolute classic, 'Friday on My Mind
,' which he co-wrote. He's still the short one there, incidentally. David Bowie famously covered it, on Pin-ups
Anyway, his folks moved to Australia while he was still in his teens, which in parts explains why the Easybeats are considered the greatest sixties group from 'down under
.' Hey, who knew?
And who knew this?
George's little brothers did even better
than he did

Here you will find witches of all types: elegant, attractive, pretty, cute, hot, naughty or femme fatales; real life witches; people dressed up as witches: for halloween or fancy dress balls; fictional witches: witches in novels, plays and poems; movie witches; cartoon witches; witches in art: carved, painted, sketched and engraved: they are all here, or will be in time."
