Election 08

Ready for '08? Survey USA is. They've done polls in all 50 states, with sixty different match ups. You can only view one paring for free, mine showed Condi Rice beating Barak Obama with something like 462 to 76. However, a large community site wouldn't have too much trouble iterating through all the options, at least that's what they figured at myDD. Of course, most of this is just name-ID at this point.

Congressman Jim Gibbons's was 5 points ahead in the polls for the Nevada Governor's race, but that was before these drunken 911 calls. [more at wonkette]

Hotline TV

Hotline TV Is an original internet video show for political insiders and junkies that I've been watching for the past few weeks. Today's episode on hot candidates was pretty entertaining, if a bit glib. Their first episode after the Foley story broke is another good one. (note: there's a 30 second pre-roll ad in the video that you might want to skip)

Political Roundup.

Turns out Colin Powell was actually fired. In other administration news, it looks like one of the pre-9/11 anti-terrorism meetings wasn't mentioned to the 9/11 commission. According to Bob Woodward's new book, where we also find out that Bush meet with Henry Kissinger at least once a month, and Kissinger's theories on Vietnam inform Bush's reasoning on Iraq.

Issues no one else will address like: "global terrorism, our national debt, our dependence on foreign oil, India and China as strategic competitors/allies, nuclear proliferation, education", etc

Unity 08 An attempt to recruit one democrat and one republican to run as a third party ticket in '08. all online, and hoping to be a big hit with the young people. Other people think it might be a dumb idea.

Was your voter registration form thick enough? Ohio's republican secretary of state has issued an order (three days before the registration deadline) to throw out all voter registration forms printed on paper less then 80lb. Coincidence that dem-leaning areas have seen a 250% rise in voter registration, with tens of thousands of new voters in a race expected to be closer then FL 2000?

Oh yeah, the state sent out 40lb forms to those requesting them. Cute, huh.

bush == clinton?

The left hates bush the way the right hated clinton Here's an interesting article on, of all places, fox news illustrating the similarities between Bush and Clinton. It's a pretty intresting essay, and actualy seems to be... ghasp, fair and ballanced :P
