Roger Eagle is one of the great, unsung heroes of the British music scene. Over a period of twenty five years or so, he was responsible for not one, not two, but three legendary music venues, each of which defined their particular era. Still fondly remembered.

Punks, Politicos and Scientists of The World Unite! Depleted Uranium Bill passes the house. To pass the bill, Dr. McDermott took a less traditional route, working with bands like Anti-Flag and speaking to people outside the political sphere.

Punks vs. Yuppies in San Francisco I don't know how I feel about trying to get yuppies and punks to reconcile but I do like the idea of a yuppies vs. punks Olympics. It'd be funny if they had one here in NYC (I'd nominate Willimasburg as the location).

A new documentary about Dogtown opens this weekend that tells the story about how some punks from Santa Monica turned skating hardcore and along the way transformed youth culture and spawned a $3 billion dollar industry. A 1999 Spin article "The Lords of Dogtown" kicked off the current revival.

Discovery of America: A Picaresque Punk Pastoral by Jim Ruland is about one of the funniest things I've read in a long time and most certainly deserves your attention. He's undertaking a spoken-word tour in support of the story-in-progress. Give him a place to sleep and maybe he'll come to your town!
