A handy rating guide to 1980s saxophone solos -- "I realized about 5 years ago that at some point in the 80s, lots of the popular music started incorporating saxophone solos into their songs. Some of them are fine, but most of them are ridiculous to have in the songs. I have attempted to separate the quality and appropriateness of the solos from what I think of the song as a whole..."

Comic Wonder is a new joke telling and rating site. With jokes as audio, would-be comics are able to capture the timing and tone that make many jokes funny.

This Film is Not Yet Rated (SFW trailer) and a hilarious (audio NSFW) version.
(2:05) "How does one follow-up an Oscar-nominated documentary (2004's Twist of Faith) about sexual abuse perpetrated by members of the Catholic Church? If you're Kirby Dick, you deliver another exposé of institutionalized misconduct by taking direct aim at the ratings system of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA)." Interviews with the director, Kirby Dick: 1,2,3. Not available on DVD until January '07, but the Amazon Reader Reviews are worth a look see.

The guy who does the xkcd webcomic is looking for the Best Thing (Evah!), The Fairest (of them all... may contain boobies but it's mostly scenery) and The Funniest (for MeFites suffering 'img tag' withdrawl).
His as-of-the-moment Top 20 Best, Prettiest and Funniest. YMMV (I'm counting on it).

British Board of Film Classification - the BBFC is a non-governmental industry body responsible in the UK for rating films depending on their content. Their site provides listings of recent film and video classifications (even in RSS format!), along with guidelines for each classification possible. There's also an interactive children's version (with an article on how the last Harry Potter film was rated), and one aimed at students (with case studies regarding 'controversial' films such as A Clockwork Orange and Crash.
And they have their own private cinema...

exso - Epinions for ex-significant others? This public service (?) gives you a forum to tell your ex and the world how you rate him/her -- wonder if this can be used for good and not evil. They also offer interesting e-cards to send to your ex. The site seems pretty new, but would you use it?

Has the BlogHop self rating thing gotten out of hand? Seems like every blog I visit these days has the color stripe (except mine of course).

Am I Hot or Not?
Beware of this link. If you click on it you will be sucked in for hours. The idea, rate people's looks on a scale of 1 to 10. The people? Anyone who uploads their picture to the site, both men and women.
I have never found a site more habit forming in my life. Like Dack (who I got the link from) I skipped food, drink and missed my bus.

Along the same lines as Meg's post about the Panty Raider game, the governor or Illinois is trying, and succeeding, to get retailers to pull "M" rated games off the shelves.
Makes you wonder when people are gonna wake up and stop blaming societal problems on all of our various forms of entertainment.
