To commemorate his upcoming 49th birthday, ex-Replacement Paul Westerberg released his first digital album on 'June 49th.' He's worked out an exclusive arrangement with Amazon, selling it at a price that's all shook down: $0.49.

Before they were nobodies. There are a few bands who never quite made it huge but influenced everyone who ever saw or heard them (the Velvet Underground, Capt Beefheart, Sonic Youth). The best were The Replacements. And recently from their defunct website comes a complete early show of theirs, broken up in bite sized chunks, via quicktime. (more inside)

Has Axl Rose Gone to Far? MeFi favorites, the Replacements' Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson are said to have worked on Westerberg's new album, much to the chagrin of Axl Rose, Stinson's new boss. Did Rose stop a potential Replacement's Reunion? Does anyone care that the Sex Pistols are going to tour again?
