Sally Field was honored this weekend as the Human Rights Campaign's Ally for Equality at the 16th Annual National Dinner. She was introduced by her youngest son, Sam Greisman, and gave this speech.
Sally Ride has died of pancreatic cancer at age 61. NPR blog. She was an inspiration to many. I saw her speak years ago when I took my daughters to a women in science program at the University of Michigan and both they and I came away impressed with her intelligence and commitment - the world is a richer place for her having been in it.

It's from British indie director Sally Potter and quite apposite, representing the kind of debates which are going on following the London bombings.
The Capital Times' obituary page notes that "Sally Baron, age 71, of Stoughton, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003.... Memorials in her honor can be made to any organization working for the removal of President Bush."
