Just a bit ago, there was a crowd of about 2,000 in downtown Seattle chanting "AMD! AMD!" People will do anything for the chance at free processors. It was seriously a spectacle, and a marketing department's wet dream. Who knew you could get 2,000 nerds to show up at 5-6am and stand around in the cold for two hours, and have them still be in good enough spirits to chant your brand name in response to the question "Who do you love?" (Of course, I might be less cynical about it if they'd just called number 4495.) Were any other MeFi peeps out there? Someone should post pictures. It was really kind of surreal.

Seattle's "Alternative Weekly," The Stranger has no actual articles in it this week. Instead, they replaced all of the words in the articles that would normaly be there with a novella. All the normal formatting is there, right down to the letters to the editor and the little news bits. Really clever idea, and from what little I've read so far, a neat story too. Unfortunately the clever layout doesn't translate to the Web site, but the story does just fine.

Speaking of hell, the Seattle Weekly has an exclusive interview with the Prince of Darkness, but you can just call him Mephisto. "Forget about 666, our new watchword in the wired world is 24/7!"

Here in Seattle, we have a thing for big, ugly buildings. Sports fans, in particular, have a thing for building expensive, retractable roofed stadiums. So in order to make room for another one, the city is imploding the Kingdome.
Bad news for Martini Design, seeing as how they're located across the street. Or good news, maybe, since they're probably getting a lot of trafic from their implosion site, with the streaming webcam, and the Flash game, "The Imploder." I still haven't been able to tear the thing down without taking a few innocent buildings down with it.
