Recently, in a candlelit room in Tribeca, a 24-year-old named Zack made a confession. “I’m very open about this, but I’ve been in recovery for the past two years,” he said from a podium, facing a room of two dozen people who looked up at him with approval, acceptance, and even a generosity of spirit. He wore a trucker’s hat over curly blond hair and explained that he was from Florida, an actor and hip-hop dancer (“Woo hoo!” “All right!”). Then he kicked on the music and began pedaling his bike. Pen spinning is very cool. Have a look at
Pentrix, with
guides to help you learn,
videos of some very nice looking variations,
basic tricks and
combinations. A word of warning though, trying these things in an open environment may well annoy your fellow humans; but this may be the
only distraction for the bored and restricted office worker.

Bored at work? Need a new hobby? Want to impress others with your skillful, delicate hands? Try some
pen spinning. Here's a site dedicated to nothing but the art of the spin. There are even
videos. Idle hands are the devil's playground.
