"There was one streaming radio site that I loved, but it's fallen on hard times." Back in June 2001, MeFi members discussed their favorite on-line radio broadcasts. The answer to file sharing? Woodstock Systems is Beta testing an Instant Message type music thinger. Essentially, the MP3's on your hard drive can be streamed by people on your buddy list, and vice versa. It also acts as a media player where you can play cds, streaming audio/video and mp3s in addition to ripping cds directly on to your hard drive. You can't download the MP3's though, so will any of those pesky laws that shut down Audiogalaxy and Napster apply?

Mike Skinner is a youngish bloke from the English West Midlands. He makes records under the name " The Streets". Over the past month or so he has become ubiquitous in any kind of media you care to mention and everyone is hailing the coming of young laureate for the garage generation. It seems Metallica has some high class company. The Cleveland Orchestra has halted distribution of their concerts to about 250 U.S. radio stations because of concerns about streaming audio. The orchestra's contract with its musicians covers radio broadcasting rights of live performances, but not Internet streaming, said Gary Hanson, the orchestra's associate executive director. Does this strike anyone else as strange?
