I'm keeping it weird, baby!

This year we've seen Batman vie with Superman (it's Just Us) and Captain America's civilized war against Iron Man, but for the greatest battle between superheroes ever captured to the screen you have to go back 20+ years to the classic-est episode of THE classic animated satirical superhero series: “The Tick vs. The Tick”. Explanation why is provided by Evan Narcisse. (hint: The Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs At Midnight)

The Tick is a big, blue, nigh-invulnerable, possibly brain-damaged super-hero created by Ben Edlund in 1986. He has appeared in comic books (1988), animated TV (1994), and live action TV (2001). According to The Wrap, Patrick Warburton has worked out a deal with Sony to create a new Tick pilot for Amazon.

50th birthday of the favorite radio station of clocks

Today is the 50th birthday of WWVB, a low frequency broadcast time service and frequency standard station of the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology that can be received in much of the Northern hemisphere. Along with high frequency sister stations WWV and WWVH, WWVB continues to evaluate and deploy new technologies to provide easily received and decoded time and frequency signals, which unlike GPS signals, will penetrate buildings and propagate past many terrain feature shadows, like hills and canyons.

Carl Zimmer walks into the woods to find out why these tiny beasts appear to be skyrocketing in number – and outsmarting environmental scientists trying to control them with every bite.

SPOON! I'm not sure how I feel about a live action Tick, but I suppose if you're going to do it, you could do worse than to cast Patrick Warburton as the Nigh-Invulnerable Blue Guy...
