You may remember
the 7.5 hour documentary released in 2009 which allowed you to travel the journey between Bergen to Oslo from the comfort of your home.
If your wanderlust was fired up watching that video, then you may enjoy some of the other trips you can take.

Jonson takes pictures of The Salton Sea,
which is a strange place
, like some kind of huge, perpetual, Burning Man
, but by a huge, salty, polluted, manmade lake
with distant shores
, dying fish
, has-been resort towns
, Salvation Mountain
, fundie dinos
, fountains of youth
, and nice churches
. [via mefi projects] [previously] [howdy]

What Was True.
From the mid 1950s through the early 1980s, William Gedney (1932-1989) photographed
throughout the United States
, in India
, and in Europe
, and filling notebook after notebook
with his observations. From the commerce of the street outside his Brooklyn apartment to the daily chores
of unemployed coal miners
, from the lifestyle of hippies in Haight-Ashbury
to the sacred rituals of Hindu worshippers, Gedney was able to record the lives of others
with clarity and poignancy. Gedney's America
is a nation of averted eyes, and broken automobiles, and restlessness, a place Edward Hopper would recognize, but so, also, Walt Whitman.

WalkingTom getting back on the road
Tom is a guy who started to walk across the US in 1997, and who started to log his journey on the Web in 98. In 2000, he took a year's break to get married, but in a few days he's finally getting back to finishing his journey. What travelogues have you
been addicted to? Are there any good current ones?
