travel to cities in Europe

europe-cities is a beautifully organized, practical site for information about traveling to cities in Europe. All the information is in one place: info about specific cities, cuisine, history, overview information, weather, a variety of cultural interests from English Christmas Markets to Hungarian culture. And, best of all, finding the cheapest/best places to stay. [more inside]

Rent a room, find a room.

AirBnB is a web site that allows you to find or offer rooms, couches, apartments, houses, backyard tents, treehouses, castles, islands... for rent. Terrific for travellers on the cheap or who want unique experiences in lodging. There are some fantastic properties on here--many of them reasonably priced.

Hotels of Doom

Hotelchatter. The ever-prolific Rusty of Kuro5hin fame has a new website out. This one is a collaborative weblog for reviewing hotels around the world. Having had some bad hotel experiences, I fully endorse the idea, but will people be motivated enough to write?

Dreamy Hotels for Love, Business and Friendship

So Your Lover, Your Boss or Your Best Friend Are Coming to Town to Spend the Weekend... Where would you put him/her up? If price were no object and you could choose a hotel/inn within 3 hours drive from where you live, what establishment would you choose? Would it be 3 different hotels? The same one? The so-called best hotels are so...uninspiring and silly. Your objective: to win him/her over completely. I love hotels (is this more a woman thing than a man's?) and I would choose these, respectively: Quinta da Capela in Sintra, and the Ritz Four Seasons and the Palácio Belmonte in Lisbon.
