Pick a card. Any card.

The Berglas Effect aka The Holy Grail of Card Magic or Any Card at Any Number (ACAAN) and named after its inventor David Berglas is a very simple magic card trick that Berglas claims only two people know.

David or Marc Paul, his apprentice, display a regular shuffled deck of cards to the audience and three participants. Sometimes the deck is borrowed from the audience.

The deck is then handed to the first participant for safe keeping.

The second participant and third participant are asked to think of a playing card and a number between one and fifty-two respectively.

The second participant is asked for their card and the third participant is asked for their number.

The first participant is then asked to deal out the third participant's number of cards.

The final card is revealed to be that picked by the second participant. Berglas hasn't touched the deck since he handed it over for safe keeping and claims that the deck is random and the participants are not working for him.

Do you know how to make sure you get the best gear? Huh? DO ya? Don't even tell me you know how to dodge blue shells! You know what? Lemme just show you how the pros do it:
Luigi Circuit
Moo Moo Meadows

Coconut Mall
DK Summit

Maple Treeway
Grumble Volcano
Dry Dry Ruins
Moonview Highway
Bowser Castle
Rainbow Road

As a note, I avoided the cheesier glitch-exploits, and things get a lot crazier around Grumble Volcano and thereafter.

Cricketer Adrian Shankar recently hit the headlines in Britain after blagging his way into an embarrassed Worcestershire side but he's hardly the first to overcome a complete lack of talent to launch a brief, inglorious sporting career. Rosie Ruiz famously took a bit of a shortcut to 'win' the 1980 Boston marathon and Senegalese footballer Ali Dia made a brief and solitary appearance for Southampton, as substitute for the sublime Matt Le Tissier no less, after fooling the notoriously hard bitten Graeme Souness. Excellent as their efforts may have been, none possessed the all round sporting skills of the immortal Karl Power.

A difficult business

Just before intermission, Cowie took the stage and began juggling a ball with her feet until suddenly she popped it in the air, swished her right foot around the ball twice, kicked it up again, then rotated her left foot around once without letting the ball touch the floor. She bent her right foot back behind her body and caught the ball on the sole of her shoe. “I could feel the excitement building in the auditorium,” she recalled. “I could hear the oohs and the aahs. I could sense the shock.” ¶ For her finale, Cowie lay on her back and juggled the ball over her head with her feet. As they applauded, Green Hope students turned to their friends with the same question: Who is she?

DIY Video Tutorials

Vimeo pros and seasoned amateurs are developing the ongoing and rapidly growing project Quick Tüts, short video tutorials that usually focus on one specific skill or technique and last no more than a minute. Oftentimes Quick Tüts show you how to use readily available items in lieu of more expensive equipment, so for video creators operating on a low budget, they are especially useful. A good way to think of them is as little tricks of the trade.

Johnny Mac - Trick Shot Quarterback — University of Connecticut quarterback Johnny McEntee and his "trick shot" passing abilities. [4:50 SLYT] McEntee is a redshirt junior at UConn. Despite his accuracy, for some reason he has yet to play a down in a college game. No doubt there is a lot more that goes into being a successful quarterback than tossing a football into a garbage can from a catwalk.
