The BBC broadcasted the science and technology showcase show Tomorrow's World (titles on piano) on 7 July 1965 on BBC1, it ran for 38 years until it was cancelled at the beginning of 2003. Unlike the boosterism of US science programs, Tomorrow's World was more famous for it's live stunts and wry outlook ( James Burke experiences the "convenient" office of the future and the future of home gardening and crushing ennui). The BBC has an archive of episodes and clips for UK visitors, everyone else will have to be content with clips concerning Home Computers, New Banking, Nellie The School Computer, The Elliot Light Pen, Mobile Phones, and Moog Synthesizers.

Keep the Faith: Prattonia 1967

Last fall, Mitzi Swisher, a vintage dealer, bought a boxed set of posters which turned out to be the 1967 yearbook for the Pratt Institute. Robert Mapplethorpe turns up in the class photo of the Graphic Design department. And she found another member of the class, Village Voice art director George Delmerico, on FB, and learned that the collection won NY Art Directors Club Award and is included in the Museum of Modern Art's library collection. Scooter Commuter, 1962 - a gathering at London's Crystal Palace for a mass scooter rally featuring a grand parade of all the scooters. Also a brief history of the scooter, including a small WWII version that was used by paratroopers; and a look at scooter manufacture and proving grounds. Fire over London, 1966 - The centenary of the London Fire Brigade, and the London Salvage Corps, their history, and a "modern" look at operations. Members Only, 1965 - A look at the "private clubs" of London. From the famous political clubs of the 18th century to the gambling clubs and the bohemian night clubs of the West End. Eating High, 1966 - a look at the 60's European trend of top-of-skyscraper revolving restaurants, including a close look at the challenges of running the restaurant at the top of London's Post Office Tower. Down London River, 1959 - vintage footage of Parliament, Big Ben, Tower of London, Tower Bridge, St Paul's Cathedral, Port of London, Cleopatra's Needle and more. Goodbye, Piccadilly. 1967 - A pre-modernization look at both the above- and the under- ground Piccadilly Circus.

Modern major film posters are common enough, and if you're looking for some discussion of modern posters, Movie Poster Addict might be your scene. But dig deeper and you come across quality versions of foreign films, such as Mexican posters (deep link to a section of Pulp Morgue) or hand painted posters from Russia, India and Pakistan, even the US. MeFi's own flapjax at midnite shared a collection of recent finds from the 1960s and '70s on in this Flickr set.
