In 1997 Steve Albini produced a re-recording of Cheap Trick's (warning: may automatically start playing awesome music) In Color album. It is suspected that it was released by a disgruntled employee. It contains an awesome version of Lennon's I Want You to Want Me even though Yoko didn't approve

"A dreamlike state tinged with a nightmare" - that's The Diving Pool, a newly published collection of three novellas by Yoko Ogawa. Despite having won every major literary award in Japan, Ogawa is little known to the English speaking world (the French have translated her extensively), although two stories - Pregnancy Diary (one of the novellas in The Diving Pool) and The Cafeteria in the Evening and A Pool In the Rain - have graced the pages of The New Yorker. Here's a preview at Google Books. If you liked that, consider pre-ordering The Housekeeper and the Professor, her latest novel to be translated into English.

George W. Bush covers John Lennon's War Is Over (If You Want It) in a collaboration with Wax Audio. Another coverversion of John Lennon's God is included on the B-side of the new limited edition 45. On the other hand, Yoko sez, "Vote Kucinich!" (previously on Mefi)

John Lennon’s lighthouse. He said, ‘Well, actually, I invited you because I wanted to know if you can build the lighthouse in my garden,’ and I said: ‘Oh, dear, no, no. It’s just a conceptual idea. I don’t know how to build anything.’
Yoko makes a dream of John's come true in Iceland. It’s geothermal. Amy Goodman's take on the subject. And, of course, video.

The Snow Show! In the winter of 2004 a unique cultural event, The Snow Show, will take place in Lapland. Internationally recognized architects like Steven Holl and artists, for example Yoko Ono, will collaborate to design installations using as their primary materials snow and ice.
They already made some pretty cool previews last winter.

Oh no! Yoko to release a dance version of "Walking on Thin Ice" the track John Lennon was working on the night he died. It's been produced by The Pet Shop Boys and Danny Tenaglia. According to the article it's been a success in clubs. Has anyone heard it? Any good?

Happy Xmas (War is over) This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the UK release of John and Yoko's perennial Christmas classic.
A very Merry Xmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
War is over, if you want it
War is over now.
Happy Xmas
