What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" My decision for a Brand New Day is based on needing a "new" name to remind myself to change my habits and interact with MetaFilter in a more mindful way, for my own sake.

Sonika is a nickname of mine. Other nicknames include Sunny, Soni-Baloney, Sonjala, Sonja Marie (oddly, not my actual middle name), Sonar, and Sonja Begonia, but none of those made terribly good usernames.
