What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.
Treehugger - pretty self-explanatory. I started using the net in college, banging away on a green screen and joining discussions on bulletin boards about medieval literature and vegetarianism.
I lurked on MeFi a long time, and could never get in to sign up, living in CST. Then one day I got lucky during lunch (lucky as in became a member, you dirty bird). And, uh, life has never been the same?
Actually I think my fiance gets sick of hearing me say, every other day at least, "Today on MetaFilter I read, got angry at, laughed at . . ." But I'm still here.
