What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.
Server Monkey.
I thought there'd be more Server Monkeys out there when I started using that nick to play Half Life and Action Quake 2. Fortunately, there weren't that many, unlike my friends who chose names like Wildman, Ubiquitous, Neo, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. But I was wrong, and the Server Monkey seemed to be a rare breed indeed.
Funny, it all started as a joke, 'cause I seemed like a little server monkey hopping from PC to PC to perform menial tasks. Unfortunately, that was all too true--at least the menial part of my job, and not my actual appearance, I hope.
Sigh.
