I logged on to metafilter, hit refresh 3 times, and was greeted with an offer to join metafilter.
I rushed to click it, rushed to type in all my info, and rushed to click that little button that would give me my own metafilter account.
Satisfied, I tried to login.

"What?" I thought, this cannot be.
A few clicks on the back button in my browser, and I saw the error of my ways.
