I'm a professional musician, I earn my keep (barely) as a guitarist. I've played all my life. On one particularly memorable trip to San Francisco during the misguided days of my obsession with the Grateful Dead, some friends and I pulled up at a stop light next to a couple of older gentleman whose red eyes betrayed the fact that they were partaking of similar forms of chemical enhancement as we were. They smiled and said something about how we looked like we knew how to party. As they pulled off, we noticed that their license plate read "Fingers". I inherited the nickname.
