About

What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.

"baphomet is apparently on Drugs 2.0" - wendell

Hello! I have a level 70 tanking druid on Kael'Thas alliance side. PST Karellen for groups, tankage, and snarks.

I took my handle from one of my tattoos. Contrary to what ignoramuses like davy might have you believe, Baphomet is not in fact representative of Satan. I chose the tattoo (and the name) because the Baphomet represents one's personal search for meaning and knowledge, even if that search leads you down the path of the taboo/transgressive/outcast. The word is actually a mash-up of two latin words, meaning "to absorb" and "knowledge" (metris).

Really though, if I was signing up for MeFi today I wouldn't choose that handle, but at the time it was something really important to me (it still is, just less so). The symbolism behind the demonization of the Knights Templar at the hands of the Catholic church is something that I really related to in my own life, growing up in a community where not Christian = Satanist. It's still a pretty metal name though, which I like.

Albums I'm currently obsessed with:

1) Tides - Resurface
2) Giant Squid - Metridium Fields
3) Darkest Hour - Deliver Us

And to reflect is to regret throwing it all away
and apathy my one way street
it took so much from me separated by this divide I created
Through my fears and in your tears you tried to show blind eyes and tell deaf ears
if we can make it through the landslide standing we'll lift each other up to see the bliss on the horizon
been looking in from the outside lately I've seen who I used to be and it's not me
And we can keep healing and we can keep holding on
I just want to take you where our time won't be wasted anymore
through the mountains on the water we'll stay engulfed in one another
and when I can wake up to see the sunrise in your eyes and we'll finally be free I'll know I've made it home
so lets go out west and bask in the overcast and walking through the rain we'll see the beauty in life again
