I started using the internet when I was thirteen years old, back in the mid-90s. Over my many years using it, I would jump from nickname to nickname, each derived from some fictional character I either identified with or admired in whatever I was reading, watching, or playing at the time. I never really wanted to be me; I always wanted to be someone else.
I don't really do that anymore; hiding behind another persona's name has lost its luster for me. I do things under my own name now, as me, because I've come to have a firmer idea of what that name means to me. This username, however, remains as a legacy of that time in my life.
