Name that kids drawing show hosted by a sea captain?

Does anyone remember kids drawing/painting show from the early 80's hosted by a stereotypical type New England fisherman/sea captain? I remember it being on CBS early on Saturday mornings, 6am or so.

How to park in NYC for a week with no license plate.

I need to figure out how to park my car for a week in NYC while on vacation...the problem? Some fine citizen stole my license plate and I can't get a replacement or even temporary one from the DMV before we leave.

There is The street where I live has alternate side parking (tue and wed) and our flights work out that we leave on a Tuesday and come back on a Tuesday. Normally I might just say, eh, take the fine and chock it up to life in the city, but I am worried that if the parking attendant comes by to ticket our car and sees no plate (I do have a hand written sign in the back window with the old number and stating it was reported stolen) they will have it towed.

JFK long term parking is no go, they said flat out if the car has no plate the will tow it.

No one I know/work with in the area has a driveway (its NY) and without plates I really don't think its a good idea to drive it all the way to CT to leave it at my parents.

I am open to any suggestions from the community. Thanks!

cover letter for the unqualified

Need help writing a cover letter for a job...the catch is that I am not exactly qualified for said job... I have been working at my current job for 2 years but have a total of 3 years experience in the field. Last week I found a job posting for what is basically the same job that I am doing now but in a better location/with better pay. Catch is in the posting they say they want 6 years experience. Figuring the worst they could do is toss my resume/cover letter in the trash I was going to try for it anyway. My feeling is the work load I am doing currently is so much higher then what they do at this new place (plus the fact that I interned there for the summer some years ago), that if I could come up with a cover letter to that effect I might have half a chance.

My main question is how direct should I be in my cover letter? Do I come right out and say "I know I am not totally qualified but here's why you should hire me anyway"...or should I just stick with a general letter and let them decide for them selves if I could be acceptable?...or I guess is the whole thing just a waste of time, with my resume going right into the trash?
