About

What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.

I am not active here anymore. I had to cut myself off pretty much cold turkey when I came to the horrible realization that I was spending far too much time online and far too little time doing the things I love to do in the real world. I did the same for other online communities, too; I'm not even on Facebook that much.

In the time since making this decision, I've made about three albums worth of insane noise music, gotten a regular DJ residency, and for a while was working what I thought was my dream job as production director for a prominent pro wrestling promotion (it turned out poorly but was a "learning experience").

However, I miss this place, and I miss the community here, and I'm always stoked to run into Mefites. If you're in Chicago, stop by the Late Bar sometime to say hello; I'm there a fair bit. The only places on the Internet I really ever surface are the forums for my favorite video game and my favorite TV show.

*******************

I make video and digital art, work in pro wrestling, and DJ.

Lately I've been making weird remixes, heavily inspired by DJ Screw. If you want those, check out the website link above, and I am deeply deeply sorry.

I am free and easy when it comes to adding people as contacts. If you've been added, it probably means that, uh, I like your comments.

There are two things I find myself wanting to bring up in almost every contentious thread. One is a motto I try to live by, the other is a book I read not too long ago that shines a lot of light on politics, religion, human relations, and the social workings of this our Metafilter.

1) "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle"
2) Bob Altemeyer's "The Authoritarians" - ebook free from his site at the University of Manitoba, or available in paperback from lulu.com
