What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.
Because one blah was already taken and two blahs would just look weird.
MeFi is a pretty amazing place. Case in point: I found a fellow MeFier who happened to be collecting folklore through Transylvania and kindly took a picture of the graveyard in my ancestor's village, along with giving me information on the fate of the inhabitants - try that on another website!
Also, one of my favorite science fiction authors accused me of having a "censorious finger" on MeFi - without Metafilter, being condemned by people I admire would be much more difficult. (For the record, my fingers are not censorious)
