About

What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.

My nickname? - my old standby was used when I signed up. So I picked a similar one that made no sense. People seem embarassed to type it but as far as I know it does not refer to any heathen or gay practices.

I've written (and use) a few MeFi specific Greasemonkey scripts (for those that use Firefox)
  • open mefi links - puts a red Omega at the end of every FPP (Front Page Post). Clicking it opens the post (and its comments) in a new window and opens every internal link in a new tab.
  • Comment - an easy way to quote authors and comments in replies.
  • highlight heavy links - highlites heavy links (such as PDFs or or videos) that might take a long time to download. I know that I should integrate this with "open mefi links" so that heavy links are not automatically loaded but I'm punting for now
