davar (or dabar, depending on your favorite way of transcribing Hebrew) is the word in the Hebrew bible that means both doing and saying. As in: God said, Let there be light: and there was light. It signifies to me that words are action. The new testament also touches upon this, with In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
