A few years ago, I was looking for an online handle that was easy to remember and had a certain "cool" factor, but was still slightly obscure so that it wouldn't be taken on every server everywhere.
My brother was into the punk band Operation Ivy at the time, and at some point, he mentioned that the band's name came from the U.S. program to develop the hydrogen bomb. I read up on the program, and the code name for the first megaton-yield hydrogen bomb was "Ivy Mike". I knew I had found my online name.
