About
What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.
My name is Jim and I live in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago. I live in a boring part of that now-hip neighborhood, and I moved here before it was hip because it was cheap ... I am not hip.
I have a J.D. that allows me to practice environmental law part-time for a small firm of folks I've known and respected for a long time. I have 20+ years' experience in environmental law that allows me also credibly to work part-time as a quasi-legal authority for an environmental consulting firm owned by an old friend, who let me create my own job description and gave me business cards. I do all this stuff sitting at my dining room table. I recognize this is an ideal situation.
I also have an M.A. in Philosophy. In 1987, I wrote a play that was produced by an Equity theater in Indianapolis. I am married to an actress and stage director who co-founded a theater company in Chicago in the 1990s that dissolved in 2003; I used to be married to a classical musician before all that.
