Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.
I took my superhero name from the 12 grade (Spectre - based on Shadowcat except I would steal... and that really wouldn't make me a hero but I wasn't going to tell my english class my true intentions) but I thought it'd be a stupid handle. So I cut it down and plopped down the year of my birth '80 at the end. Because that would make it less stupid. Somehow.
My friend recently asked if I named myself after the Austrian or Italian cured ham known as "speck." As I find it delicious, I agreed that could be an alternate origin of my name.
