About

What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.

Stannate is a G-rated version of a nickname I gave my radio show in college: "The Stanley Jimbrowski Show." Both Stanley (The Adventures Of Ford Fairlane) and Jimbrowski (old-school rap, especially "Jimmy" by Boogie Down Productions) are euphemisms for the male appendage, but stringing them together makes a name that sounds like an older, gentler version of Carl Brutananadilewski from ATHF. Instead of hanging out with Meatwad and talking about porn and Foreigner and the Giants, Stanley would be the guy who wears sleeveless undershirts, shorts, dress socks and black shoes while watching baseball on a portable TV in his garage while drinking Old Style or Falstaff. Such a name came across to me as the epitome of highbrow/lowbrow humor in college, but after some time had passed, I realized it was time for a change. "Stannate" makes a passing reference to the past name, but also allows for some anonymity due to chemistry-related results when searching online.

On an unrelated front: given the proper time and preparation, I will totally overthink a plate of beans.
