What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.
Ha, the prompts here are cute.
My username is Nattie because my name is Nattie (short for Natalie). It's pretty easy to remember.
I started using the Internet when I was about ten years old, around 1995. I used AOL 3.0 and paid by the hour. At the time it wasn't terribly popular yet, so it didn't occur to me that internet might be some weird place.
As you might imagine, my usernames back then were much more embarrassing. (RPGFREAK11? Oh man.) Part of the reason I just use Nattie now is to distance myself from that, hah. I also typed in all caps for a good two or three years. Hey, it's quicker, right? I started reading MetaFilter because a friend recommended it.
I like reading, writing, singing, philosophy, politics, sociology, psychology, linguistics, history, computers, existentialism, discussions of neuroscience and the consciousness, and keeping it real. I also love cosmology, physics, and some quirky mathematical topics, but I can only think about those things conceptually despite my best efforts. I love insightful wall-of-text comments from MeFi members.
I like to read books about anything. As far as fiction goes, though, I read primarily fantasy (although I dislike epic fantasy) and soft sci-fi. There doesn't have to be romance involved, but it's a quick way to grab my interest... but I dislike the romance genre. I'm hard to please when it comes to fiction, and I wish I weren't.
Whatever I read, though, I like to review. I've started keeping track on GoodReads:
