What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.

It is not a nickname. It is my real name, well if you include initials. The "m" stands for Meta, my middle name. My first name is Elizabeth, hence the "e"--I am not afraid of identity theft, and information is already so unprotected I don't think there's any point in donning a disguise. But I do like all the creative monikers on my beloved MetaFilter.
