What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.

My initials are ADJ and I was one of the early GMail adopters who got invited, but damned if I wasn't early enough to snag something I wanted, so, "ay" "dee" jones it is.

Been lurking since 2002 thanks to Wolfdaddy, RIP. I hardly knew him, but he shares my mother's birth*day* (just realized that 12 years later, not to get all "woo") and he was one of those funny people I paid attention to. I loved online communities that were recommended to me rather than just "StumbledUpon" and if he mentioned MetaFilter I was gonna read that shit up.

I don't normally get woo-ey about things, but I really get along with people born in the month of May, and the closer someone is to my birthday, the more absurd things we seem to have in common. I was born on the 18th and am bipolar and left-handed. I just realized now that WolfDaddy once asked MetaFilter about bipolar disorder and wish he was still around to discuss it.

He mentioned MetaFilter in the Everything2.com "CatBox" and that was the beginning of a very torrid consuming relationship largely rooted in lurking.
