About

What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.

My nickname is a sort of plea to people to, at the very least, not buy new diamonds. Even though there is the Kimberly Process, the fact is that many Blood Diamonds still do get through, and the revenue that they produce keeps a pretty awful system in place. I'm no bleeding heart, but I believe that if I and others object to this with dollar ballots, we can really make a difference in some people's lives.

If you must have a diamond, buy it used! That keeps the money from going to the war lords in Africa! In this economy, there are plenty available, and older diamonds can even be improved (with clear fillers) to look even better than they originally did! You'll get far more bang for your buck with a used one too.

If you're open to other stones, that's great. Moissanite is a really good diamond alternative. Hardness: 9.25 to 9.5!
