es el queso came about when I first moved to san francisco back in 1995 and i was walking thru the Mission and saw a billboard for California Cheese (you know, It's The Cheese!) in Spanish, and it made me giggle. At that time, the limit for AOL *cough* (sorry) screen names was 10 characters, and eselqueso fit. Before that, I had been IvyBoy and JetScreamer on IRC... The End.
