What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.

My best comment ever.

I was home schooled for one year when I was 16 years old. My mom was too busy trying to wrangle my brother through his coursework to properly supervise me, so I spent 90% of my school hours screwing around on the internet.

At first, it was mostly flash games and 3d modelling forums. Eventually, I got bored and found hackaday, which led me to metafilter. I've been compulsively hitting the F5 button since around 2004.

This is actually my only account anywhere with this nickname. I had just gotten a tattoo of Woody Guthries infamous guitar and I was feeling too enthusiastic. Everywhere else it's jabyrd3.

My greatest contribution

My mefi goal for 2011 is to achieve numerical parity between my comments and their favorites.
