About
What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.
"Fraula" is Corsican for "strawberry". I love picking fresh strawberries to eat. I'm not Corsican, though I lived near the island for several years, in Nice – I'm Franco-Oregonian. Currently Paris is my home (whee, or rather, ouiii).
I first started using the Internet in 1990, when I signed up for Prodigy, and not long afterwards, a UNIX shell account on a local Freenet. I set up my first website in 1994, introduced a fellow student to the web and together we designed a site for our university's school of music (we were music majors at the time). I also began an online journal in 1995, which I still write. I've known MeFi since it started and have always been a lurker, finally signing up in 2009.
I have a Masters degree from the Université de Nice (France) in comparative literature, for which I researched Greek, Norse and Native American (especially Iroquoian) creation myths. My BA is from the U. of Oregon, in French, for which I also spent a year at the Université Lyon II in France. In short, I know French and literature pretty well, as well as how to tell when a cat will let you snorfle its tummy and when, in fact, the tummy show is nothing but a trap to steal your fingers.
