ALL THESE BOXES ARE YOURS EXCEPT THE ONE MARKED EUROPA. DON'T OPEN THAT ONE.

Whenever I hear Jon Ronson speak, I think, Jon Ronson, why do you talk like that? It's gotten so I can't listen to him on This American Life. Great storyteller, very prolific, interesting man - just, why do you talk like that?

This American Life has a "house style" of radio narration.

One which makes me want to punch people in the face.

Oh Europa joke, how we all rush in to make you.

ALL THESE JOKES ARE YOURS EXCEPT THE ONE CALLED EUROPA. IT'S KINDA TOO OBVIOUS AND PLAYED OUT.

Europa joke will always be right there with "NEEDS MORE UNKNOWN KADATH" in my metafilter comment playbook.

AND UPON MY DEATH, STEVE, THE BOX MARKED EUROPA -- WHICH I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH IS STILL NOT YOURS -- TAKE THAT BOX, STEVE AND BURN IT IN THE FIELD BEHIND MY HOUSE.

etc. I liked the "it's the 2001-the-space-odyssey of boxes! Hey? Hey? No?"

IT'S KINDA TOO OBVIOUS AND PLAYED OUT.

Plus the box maker guy already used it in the video. I'm sure he had it ready.

It makes such clear sense that he settled on England to live. "Boxes, eh? sure we could make you some custom snug ones. 'Ave you a measurement?"

That's got to be Disneyland for Kubrick's mentality.

ALL YOUR BASE ON EUROPA ARE BELONG TO US.

Am I the only one who wants to make one of those boxes ?
Who is going to settle for a lifetime struggling to get a lid off ?

Its like peering into hell.

Sorry, I thought this was lifehacker, never mind.

Perhaps ironically, the Europa line was from 2010 (directed by Peter Hyams) rather than 2001 (directed by Stanley Kubrick), but don't let that cramp your style.

ALL THESE WORLDS ARE YOURS, INCLUDING "PEDANTRY," A NEW WORLD I JUST MADE UP FOR THIS JOKE. ATTEMPT NO LANDINGS ON PEDANTRY. PLEASE. JUST DON'T.
