Wow. The photos in the How it was filmed link show that he was there holding onto the setup the whole time. I wonder how many times the poor guy got hit during the whole thing. Way to take one for the team!

This was a fantastic use of panoramic video, probably the best I've ever seen.

Can someone remind me of the rules of dodgeball? Is it just pound the crap out of each other, or are you supposed to exit the game if you're hit or what?

I've got absolutely no idea how in the heck somebody is supposed to referee a dodgeball game with that many people. I suppose they were going with the honor system when it came to tagouts.

I can imagine the honor system working for eliminating those hit with a ball, but you're also supposed to be eliminated if someone catches a ball you threw. There's no way in hell I'd be able to spot that as a player amongst so many other balls being thrown, especially if I was trying to keep my eye out for balls to dodge as well.

Is that what the inside of the Butterdome looks like?

Hey, I was actually there, watching briefly (I had a class so I couldn't take part).

Naturally—this is Canada we're talking about.

Indeed. And for the curious, this is what the outside of the Butterdome looks like.

Is this a regulation event, or simply an unruly (Canadian) crowd with balls? If one were to drop a couple thousand dodgeballs in NY Times Square and someone were to take a throw at someone else at random, would this be considered a candidate to break this record? Because if so, those in charge should get right on it.
