I'll keep the gushing out of the post itself, but I want to say I love the clever adaptation of action figure stands as "factory equipment."

It's a little less cute if you realize this was made by unraveling the cute little guy. No wonder he looks so sad in the "last" shot. He knows the horror that awaits him.

Okay, that was awesome and almost inspired me to make amigurumi (but I hate weaving in ends and seaming with a burning fiery passion, and amigurumi are so small that the ratio of crochet to finishing is just too low to be fun for me.)

Are you disagree with my claim that that's how they made it? Or that it makes it less cute?

I think it'd have been doable working forward, but a lot more time-consuming (gotta move the hook out of every shot, etc.) With that and the yarn looking crimped, I'm with DU on production method (but I still say it's cute.)

(Also, it should obviously have been an amigurumi frog.)

Don't you see this as a metaphor for rebirth and reincarnation? It would be really cool if it were a phoenix, BTW, with some fire somewhere because, hey, fire.

asperity, I hear you. I can't commit to the whole animal. But adding round baubles (or, faceless heads if you're morbid like me) and cherries to things...that I can do!

I was strangely torn between the desires to hug someone because of the doll, and shoot someone because of the music. Argh!

Asperity, I've found that amigurumi is fairly forgiving with seaming and end-weaving. You can usually just weave the ends through a couple stitches and leave the tails hanging out on the inside. Seamed knit garments make me recoil, but I love amigurumi.

I suspect it might have been shot working forward, actually. Amigurumi requires a really tight gauge, and unraveling a stitch leaves a telltale gap in the previous stitch that would be hard to smush down.

(off to Ravelry to find a cigarette pattern to stuff with catnip)
