A Letter To Lil Wayne by Watoto From the Nile, an all girl rap group.

Guessing by the age of these kids, I'm assuming this is written by their parents, especially after dropping Lauryn Hill, Steve Harvey, India Arie and KRS-One's names.

I guess who wrote it isn't as important as the message.

Its nice I guess, but they just aren't very good. Here is lil boosie's daughter iviona rapping. For context, lil boosie is in jail waiting on trial for murder.

I saw this a few days ago and after several minutes it just was pedestrian. Good on them for doing it though. I'm wondering if he will respond.

At the age of 9 or 10, I was better versed in 60s folk and pop than mainstream music, because I listened largely to the music my parents liked - they were rather selective about the TV and radio that we were allowed to listen to as kids. It wasn't until a few years later that I got a Walkman, started making friends who were really into contemporary music (and had older siblings with quality music collections to raid) and started form clear tastes of my own. I was also a most righteous and uncomplicated feminist at the age of 10. So based on my own experience, I think the girls could've written this on their own.

Being a more complicated feminist now, I like The Crunk Feminist Collective's reaction to the video.

This bothers me on many levels. It is more disturbing than any lil' wayne lyric ever could be. Who ever is behind it is affecting these childrens minds 1000x more negatively than listening to wayne, or any other art, could.

Wait...how is telling little girls that it's not cool to be called bitches "disturbing"? I don't mean to suggest that putting words in your childrens' mouths is a fantastic super idea or anything, but I don't see how this is quite so heinous.

I shouldn't have been so sensationalistic. From my perspective, they're doing more than putting words in their childrens' mouths. They're constructing an elaborate ruse to push their message, using the kids as pawns. I am biased, because i love Lil' Wayne's music, and i can't stand when people teach their kids that any art is bad or 'wrong.'
