UEFA postpone all European Champions League ties. The European soccer community postpones its soccer matches as a mark of respect to the US tragedy. Good move, I would think. After all, everything else seems so trivial now.

Collective Soul's shows this weekend are cancelled too.

Formula 1 will race in Italy.

I hear the Ryder Cup might be cancelled too. Playing the Ryder Cup right now, a golf contest which pits the US against Europe, would be ridiculous.

Woods and Duval have come out against playing it. I heard on the radio this morning that Jesper Parnevik was in New York at the time of the bombing.

International Sport is about honest competition between countries. It's not the time for competition though, is it? At the risk of sounding all fluffy, this is a time for Unity with Purpose.

Some will say argue that sport might take our minds off it. Nothing will accomplish that. We're all going to feel this for a long, long time.

Think of the players asked to perform under these cirumstances. No matter how professional they are, Tuesday will never leave these people unaffected. They probably feel quite similar to what I am experiencing: a feeling of emptiness and nausea.

I love sport. It's just not the time for it.
