He has this weird manic energy. This is probably going to depress some people, but up until this post I had never heard of this guy.

This is a great movie, but having it broken up into so many short segments ruins the presentation. Just as I am getting drawn into the monologue, I'm yanked right back out of it when the short segment stops and I have to click the next video.
I want one of these.

You do know youtube has an option where you can queue your videos and have them autoplay.

I saw this on the stage in San Francisco. It was quite funny and touching. Interesting fact: he will never sit in the audience to watch a play, but always watches from backstage, because he was a survivor of the 1944 Hartford circus fire.

I was first introduced to the great Charles Nelson Reilly in the campy psychodelic Saturday morning Sid and Marty Krofft show Lidsville. Here's the intro song telling the back story of Mark, the star of Lidsville, played by Butch Patrick (best known as Eddie Munster.)

I would have loved to see this show live. I saw the film in its entirety a few years back and left exhausted from laughter. I'm glad to see it here in this form to remind myself of all the jokes I jotted down while watching it.

Also, I still think of this song every time I see a banana.

If you dig this -- it's also available on DVD with a bunch of bonus stuff. Y'all should check it out! Outstanding film.
I saw it at the Seattle International Film Festival a few years back.. CNR was actually going to be at the screening, but I was thwarted in my quest of meeting him as he had the audacity to die about 2 weeks before the screening.

"HARRY, LOOK WHO IT IS, IN JAMS AND JELLIES! (We thought you were dead!)"
Holy cow, this is fantastic, thank you. I'm only two clips in an feel like I've injured my spleen from laughing. It was so weird being a kid in the '70s, when you could see someone like CNR on a game show in the middle of the week and on crazy Sid and Marty Krofft shows on Saturday morning, without any real understanding or context of who he was besides "that Match Game/Lidsville guy." (I also seem to have some memory of him showing up on the Bay City Rollers/Witchipoo morning show at some point, though this could just be wishful thinking.)

I'm not 100% on this but I'm pretty sure it was CNR who lined the entry way to his house with 8x10 glossies of proprietors of Hollywood dry cleaners.

It is a crime – a crime – that none of Charles Nelson Reilly's scenes from the great (some would say the greatest) X-Files episode, "Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space,'" exist on Youtube.

This was really really great. I watched the games shows as a kid in the 80s, and knew he was a persistent presence, but never knew how deep and rich his career was. What a wonderful performance.

Dear Ann Landers,
Friends insist that because my crush is gay and dead, I should seek my happiness elsewhere. How do I convince them to stop raining on my lovely parade?
Optimistic in Oregon
PS. I just remembered you're dead too. Although grief is timeless, photographs -- especially moving ones -- are like sharpening stones whose power we've yet to truly absorb. If you can still see the dead, their beautiful faces -- if they can still tell you stories in the dark -- how can you ever fully accept they are gone? Please give my love to Charlie. Please give my love to everyone. Tell them they are truly missed.

Coincidentally, today my son and I watched an episode of "Lidsville" featuring C.N.R. It was on the Sid & Marty Krofft's "Saturday Morning Hits" DVD. My son, who usually hates anything that isn't animated, begged for more.
