A view from inside the rescue effort Found this one while following a link from a previous thread I'd started. It's an interesting perspective that I really hadn't seen before. (Sorry if this should be a comment in another thread.)

Damn. Am I the only one feeling waaaay more patriotic than they've ever felt in their lives? We grew up in a pretty cynical time, and this is the first MAJOR event of our lives.

Sorry. It's just the other way for me. While I deeply regret what has happened and feel immensely sorry for the victims, I think our government is doing some very stupid things. I fear the retaliation of our country more than the terrorists. Bush is a blood-thirsty idiot; his actions will do more damage than good. I can't say that I'm necessarily proud to be American right now.

I agree that our government isn't acting as smartly as it could. Some blame the administration, others blame the knee jerk reaction that happens out of being as unprepared as we were in all of this. Whatever is to blame I don't think that we'll react the way we should.

Either way, I'm feeling patriotic.

Thanks. I needed that.

Actually, word on the radio is that there will be no action for weeks. I don't get the feeling that they are going to go after Afghanistan, I think they want to root out terrorism. I'm very (can't believe it but I am) proud of the way this country has responded.

Bloggboy:

What, exactly, has our government done that you find so stupid in the wake of the attack?
