Some thoughts:

This message brought to you by PETA.

This kind of reminds me of Bill Cosby's "Chicken Heart" bit. (which, I had no idea until now, was an actual real radio show)

Alright then, off to McDonald's.

McDonald's? No, definitely In-N-Out (which SPOILER was what the monster burger did to the baby).

Or Five Guys, because that's how many the burger ate today.

Not NEARLY enough naked ladies for this to be PETA propaganda.
Fun little short though!

See, now I'm hungry.

Somewhere along the line, that went from "I'll show my little nephew this" to "I'd be arrested if I showed my little nephew this."

Cool, but, oddly enough it did not leave me with the desire to eat a hamburger. And full props for referencing 'Dead/Alive' at the end.

I love how it all starts out as "Hey! I'm a student thesis! Hire me, Pixar, my stuff is just like yours!" and then turns into "Hey! I'm a student thesis! JAMES CAMERON AND SAM RAIMI RULES!"

If I owned a hipster indie burger joint, the kind scattered all over Seattle/Portland/Vancouver I'd have this on a loop over top of my tills so fast it'd make your head swim.

Would you like fries with that?
posted by BeReasonable at 9:26 PM on May 21, 2011

I've been wanting -- sortof aching for, really -- a greazy/sleazy/cheezy-burger and fries all evening and night, and not that I was hungry, just hungry for junk, and the local greaziest-dive has this special on Saturdays, burger/fries/coke for xx amount off normal price, maybe thirty percent off, I wanted two of those bastards and I mostly still do, I wanted and want to jam that shit into my head. Somehow I was able to put it off all night. Watching that vid, I'm not sure if I want to eat a gr/sl/ch-burger more because of watching it or not; regardless, I'm glad I watched. Fun.

I have no money and I want a burger. So badly.

Very cute.

I haven't really paid attention to demo reel stuff since the early 00's... (a friend of mine was in Digipen, and another at Cap College)

Question to 3D people: were there any technically difficult things that were accomplished in this reel? The "wet look" reflections on the burger patties and the "inside intestines" kind of stood out as looking more realistic than they used to (at least in reels), but I have no idea.

For a while, having "realistic" physics, iirc, was "thing" but it was obviously not present here. Especially the buildings/bridge crumbling bit. It felt very cartoonish and I've probably seen better in video games.

That was disturbing. But I sort of want a burger.

I can watch CGI blood and guts all day, but the [SPOILER] lady's fingernails snapping off while she got dragged into the trash receptacle still made me cringe. Nice clip.
