An open directory of resources

An open directory of resources pertaining to the terrorist attack, the world's reaction, the upcoming military response, and all the various issues surrounding recent events. I think it's important that we maintain a library of sorts -- keeping track of all the news, all the opinion, the personal accounts, the photos -- so that we can learn from these events, so that we can find patterns, so that we can remember. So, post your good links to the directory!

(sorry for the self-link, btw. I think it's a worthy enough project to merit it though.)

Oh, also, you'll notice that most of the links already in the system come from Metafilter. Ani and I spent a good couple of hours archiving Metafilter links so that they'll get the attention they need instead of being scrolled offscreen and forgotten. We could use some help getting the rest of the good links into the database!

Ben, I couldn't find a link to e-mail from or submit to on that site, but I'd like to add this. Steal from it what you will.

BTW - I could see the "About | Contact" links, but they went nowhere for me.

Good on you both. And congrats on the engagement. Sorry that it came at such a weird time.

Regarding the self-link: This cannot stand. I have been in contact with the New Zealand authorities. Someone will be knocking loudly on your door, very soon. Cooperation will result in you and Ani being extradited and resettled in Austin. Lack of cooperation will be severely frowned upon. It's your call to make.

good idea! FYI, in a related effort, Brewster Kahle is archiving sites related to the terrorist attacks. Send your URLS to attackarchive@archive.org.

I started a page on my website - After 9.11- which is just trying to grapple with the torrent of post WTC comment, and extract some usefulness and next-step thinking out of it all. However I think we need some real disciplined dot-org activism here - sites like commondreams.org are doing their best - as is MeFi - but we need real waterholes for intelligence, right now.

I am sure there will be a spike in well-meaning efforts. But many existed before last week, such as the independent media center (to name one).

>we need real waterholes for
>intelligence, right now.

And we need other things beyond outlets for information, indy journalism and discourse. The Internet has always been an interdependent life, and in the utopian ideal, we should roll up our sleeves and find the best way to work together.

I've added a 'blog this' style popup to ease the process of adding links. You can snag it here
