I'm not familiar with the type of thing I'm seeing.

that's a remix of a video that is a splice of two videos, correct?

Heh, I used to surf that break. Hell, I even probably used to talk like that, especially if I'd just crawled out of the water after a really gnarly sesh... BRB slapping myself in the face with a thick book.

OK, back. So, that dude is being interviewed on TV because he's out surfing during one of Southern California's storms. It's probably "winter" which means ambient air temps are as low as 50-60. The water is about the same temp, or colder. Usually colder.

Anyway, it was always a huge news item to go look at the beaches during the storms, and not just for the high waves. Many beaches would close due to the fecal bacteria-laden stormwater runoff, or due to water treatment plants overflowing.

But often you'd find surfers out in it because storm surge and swell plus high winds equals huge waves, and if you're surfing you really don't care if it's raining because you're in the water anyway. (getting ear, nose and throat infections from surfing in poop soup? that's a whole different story.)

So a casual disregard for rules plus huge waves plus people like that dude all adds up to an easy news day at the beach for the local news reporters. (Dude on camera is probably hamming it up and screwing with the news reporter, anyway.)

Yeah, it sounded like guys from my high school days, but cheesier, and more auto-tuned.

I wish melodysheep had a more distinct or unique sound, because they sound like a copy of the Gregory Brothers' style. It's almost as if there was an Autotune The News preset now.

Best use of auto-tune since the Symphony of Science collection. I feel so inspired to surf now.
