SVK (Special Viewing Kit) is a collaboration between writer Warren Ellis (Transmetropolitan, Planetary, Crooked Little Vein, RED), artist Matt "D'Israeli" Brooker (Stickleback, Lazarus Churchyard, 2000AD) and London-based design studio BERG. It's a comic that features hidden text that is revealed by the included UV flashlight thingy (and also, apparently, a foreword by William Gibson). (wired article)

I will buy this now, to assuage my guilt for reading all of his collected works digitally, at least three times.

Now when are they going to release a gorgeous collected set of all of the transmets, so that I can decorate my bookshelf with it?

I bought it, because I'm a sucker for precisely this kind of gimmicky thing. Shipping to Canada cost more than the item itself =(

They should make the overseas shipping price viewable only with special UV glasses.

I first read that fifth link as saying "included UV fleshlight thingy," and thought, "Yeah, that sounds like something Ellis would come up with."

Yeah, I'll be getting in trouble for spending this much on a comic book, but then again I owe Ellis the money.

Looking over my order confirmation again, it appears I was wrong about shipping costing more than the book. It is precisely £0.04 less. But still.

It looks like Ellis is finally taking his fan's up on that offer to "just take their whole wallet."

::looks at the ten collected volumes on the bookshelf::

I'm sure they'll start getting around to that about 13 years ago from now.

@FatherDagon

I saw that, I think it's the original hardcovers I want. If I'm buying books to look at and not read, they'd better be really pretty.
